Deinonychus was a Cretaceous predator with razor-sharp claws and an agile build that challenged the prevailing notion of sluggish, reptilian dinosaurs. Discovered and named by John Ostrom, his research highlighted its striking similarities to birds, igniting the debate on avian evolution. Deinonychus's discovery paved the way for understanding dinosaurs as dynamic, active creatures, rather than lumbering beasts and remains an icon of the Dinosaur Renaissance.
This piece was sculpted using a multitude of references, most notably skeletals by palaeontologists Scott Hartman & Matt Dempsey.
