Psittacosaurus mongoliensis
Psittacosaurus mongoliensis
Psittacosaurus, meaning "parrot lizard," was a small, herbivorous dinosaur that lived approximately 100 to 125 million years ago during the Early Cretaceous period. Found primarily in Asia, with fossils discovered in regions such as China, Mongolia, and Siberia, Psittacosaurus was a genus of ceratopsian, a group that later evolved into the famous horned dinosaurs like Triceratops. However, unlike its larger relatives, Psittacosaurus lacked prominent horns and instead had a short, parrot-like beak ideal for cropping plants.
This piece is a hand painted resin Psittacosaurus mongoliensis skull. Digitally sculpted in ZBrush and 3D printed, it employs magnets to link the mandible to the skull.
