Torvosaurus tanneri

Torvosaurus was a large theropod dinosaur that lived during the late Jurassic period, about 153 to 148 million years ago. Its name means "savage lizard," which reflects its status as a formidable predator. Fossils of Torvosaurus have been found in North America and Europe, indicating it had a wide geographic range.

This piece is a hand painted resin Torvosaurus tanneri skull. Digitally sculpted in ZBrush and 3D printed, I was aided during the sculpting by the expertise of palaeontologist Ethan Storrer. It employs magnets to link the mandible to the skull..
